I was born and raised in Manitoba. My husband and I moved to Alberta over 10 years ago.

My love for painting was born out of necessity during the year of 2020. As a new mother struggling with severe postpartum depression, I found myself in need of a creative outlet to help my mental health. It was during this time that I stumbled upon a virtual paint night hosted by a generous artist based in Calgary, AB. What began as a tentative experiment quickly blossomed into a deep-seated passion for painting, particularly with acrylics.

Today, I dedicate myself to crafting landscapes that echo the enchanting tales I read combined with the Canadian Rockies landscape. Each piece is a testament to my love for storytelling through art, inviting viewers to step into worlds of wonder and imagination. My work is not just about creating art; it's about connecting with others who share a passion for the fantastical and the beautiful.

“I’m so grateful for the art pieces that Janessa has created for me. She has a way of taking a vision and transforming it into something even more beautiful and atmospheric than I imagined. Her landscapes and floral illustrations capture the heart of my series perfectly, adding depth, emotion, and a sense of place that feels truly alive. Every piece feels thoughtful, intentional, and infused with care. Working with Janessa has been an absolute joy, and I would recommend her to anyone looking for art that tells a story.” -Rowyn Adelaide
